'Rikyu-an' townhouse: a traditional holiday house (vacation rental) nestled within the historical Higashiyama neighborhood. This townhouse is just a short walk from Kiyomizu Temple, the stone-paved streets of Ninenzaka & Sannenzaka, and the oldest standing pagoda in Kyoto, Yasaka-no-to Pagoda.
Renovated using plenty of Japanese cedar (杉板; sugiita), this traditional Kyoto townhouse features elegant "ichimonji-kawara" roof style, and circular windows inspired by tea ceremony rooms. Enter into this townhouse to be greeted by soft light, rich woodwork details, and a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The entrance features a tranquil study, which is the perfect place to enjoy a book, or ready for the day. Move further into this townhouse to find a spacious tatami-lined Japanese room, modern kitchen, and 'tsuboniwa' garden.
