Make a reservation at the neighboring townhouse, Akane-an , and stay in Kyoto with larger groups of family and friends. Akane-an townhouse can accommodate up to 4 guests for a total of 10 guests.
As you approach a hidden, stone-paved street, a row of beautifully preserved traditional Japanese homes will come into view. 'Sumire-an' townhouse features black lattice woodwork and a soft, earth-tone exterior. Open the door to reveal a bright and airy townhouse.
Feel free to stretch out your legs at the 'horigotatsu' table (a low table with sunken flooring beneath, which makes sitting on the floor more comfortable). Savor a cup of Japanese tea as you gaze out onto the garden.
Adjacent to the tatami-lined Japanese room is a spacious, modern room.
